What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands on therapy that works with the craniosacral system - the membranes and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord, and its relationship with the rest of the body.
Using a light touch, I listen through my hands for the subtle rhythms and movements within the craniosacral system, noticing areas where movement feels free and where there may be tension or restriction.
My approach is rooted in the Upledger method of CranioSacral Therapy.
Rather than imposing change or following a rigid sequence, I work with what your body is presenting in that moment. The intention is to support the body's own self correcting processes and allow change to emerge from within, at a pace that feels appropriate for you.
Sessions are fully clothed and usually take place lying comfortably on a treatment table.
I may work at the feet, pelvis, diaphragm, spine, chest, neck or head, using gentle contact to follow the body's responses throughout the session.
For me, the heart of this work is creating space space to slow down, to be listened to and to allow the body an opportunity to soften, reorganise and settle.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you need, and there is no particular way you are expected to feel. Your body leads the session; my role is to listen, follow and support.
CranioSacral Therapy Adult
CranioSacral Therapy offers a quiet space to slow down, reconnect with yourself and give the body and nervous system an opportunity to settle, supporting rest, connection and wellbeing.
People come to CranioSacral Therapy for many different reasons, including stress and overwhelm, headaches and migraines, jaw/TMJ tension, neck and back discomfort, sleep difficulties, fibromyalgia, grief and periods of significant change.
I have a particular interest in supporting women through the different seasons and transitions of life. This may include fertility and the emotional experience that can surround it, pregnancy and postpartum, birth experiences, matrescence, perimenopause and menopause.
Some people come following periods of physical or emotional trauma, burnout or prolonged stress, when they feel their body has been carrying a lot for a long time. Others come while moving through grief in its many forms; bereavement, pregnancy loss, relationship changes, changes in health or identity, or simply the loss that can accompany a major life transition.
And sometimes there isn't one particular reason at all. You may simply feel depleted, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself or in need of deep rest.
You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis or even know exactly what you need.
Each treatment is individual and led by what is presenting for you on the day, with space to slow down, be listened to and allow the session to unfold at your body's own pace.

CranioSacral Therapy Child
My work with children and teenagers is gentle, responsive and child led.
There is no expectation for a child to lie still on the treatment table. We meet them exactly where they are; playing, moving around the room, chatting or simply taking time to feel comfortable. Sometimes the first session is as much about building trust and safety as it is about hands on treatment.
Children and teenagers may come during periods of anxiety, emotional overwhelm, sleep difficulties, physical tension, exam stress, friendship difficulties or bullying.
CranioSacral Therapy offers a quiet, supportive space to slow down, rest and support nervous system regulation, without pressure to talk through or explain everything they may be experiencing.
For teenagers in particular, it can simply be a space where, for an hour, nothing is expected of them.

CranioSacral Therapy Infant
CranioSacral Therapy can offer babies a space to settle, soften and unwind following pregnancy, birth and those early weeks and months of life.
But I never really see a baby in isolation.
For me, supporting the baby also means supporting the mother. A baby and mother are deeply connected, particularly during the fourth trimester and first year, and what is happening for one can often influence the other.
This is why I approach my work with babies with the mother baby dyad in mind.
A session may be booked for your baby, but I am also paying attention to you - how you are feeling, how feeding is going, how you are both sleeping and settling, your birth experience and what those early days of motherhood have been like for you.
Treatment is gentle and baby led. Your baby may be treated while lying on the treatment table, in your arms, feeding, sleeping or moving around. There is no expectation for a baby to stay still or behave in a particular way.
And sometimes, supporting your baby may mean offering some gentle CranioSacral work to you too.
My intention is to create a calm, unhurried space where both baby and mother can be supported because caring for a baby also means caring for the person holding them.
